yes....

"working" on his bike

poor buddy

yes we are still alive. yes i still have a blog. yes my sister is about to kill me for lack of pictures. and yes i wish i could be better at updating my blog, but reality is i am pretty bad at it.

this summer has felt like a whirlwind. we have had a great summer filled with plenty of days at the pool, camp for mac, tons of family that has come to visit and everything that falls in between. mac has been so fun (and somewhat independent) at the pool this year. he has pretty much taught himself to swim, come up for air, jump in the deep end and swim to the ladder, do flips in the pool and dive for his toys in the shallow end. he. is. a. water. bug. we have loved spending the majority of our afternoons there and then usually a saturday or sunday there with daddy. we are sad for the days of the pool to come to an end, but we have a busy and exciting fall to look forward to.

probably part of the reason i have had a chance to update the blog is because we have been stuck in the house all weekend. poor mac has scarlet fever. what?? we have no idea where he got it, he woke up after nap on friday with a rash ALL over his body. the dr is pretty certain that it is scarlet fever, it could be one or two other bacterial infections but i'm not even going there. yuck. if you notice the pictures (in his pj's) that looks like his face has sunburn...that's what the majority of his little body looks like. he has a mixture of that "sunburn" rash and then one that looks like sandpaper. his little feet, hands and face have been swollen:( his dr has been really sweet and called and checked on him everyday. i had no idea exactly what SF was until this....it was definitely a little scary at first, but he is on some meds (ask me about that story later) and praying that everyday he gets to feeling better!

hopefully everyone in our house will stay healthy so we can enjoy some time at the beach and then charleston! charlie laughed and said that he has never seen me do as much laundry as i have done this weekend (mac's yucky stomach issues) and heard me say "Lord help us" so many times:) we are just thankful we aren't dealing with anything worse!

a little glimpse.....

Okay...I know it has been way too long since my post...forgive me Lindz:) Things have been a bit crazy so it hasn't allowed for much time with the camera or blogging:( I hate when I go for a stretch without picking up the camera--it just reminds me of how quickly time is passing and how much Mac is changing.

Mac is doing great---he is full of life and ALL boy. The conversations that I have with him on a daily basis are a trip. He is so funny--definitely takes after his daddy. An example from this past weekend.

M: why are we getting baby stuff at target?
Me: mommy is going to a baby shower tomorrow for mrs. mariah
(after a few moments of thinking)
M: so, the baby is going to take a shower with his mrs. mariah tomorrow?
Me: umm...no....a baby shower is like a baby party.
M: why did you say shower? you must have said the wrong word.

The weather has been a little weird here lately, but when it is nice we are outside as much as possible. I do everything I can to try and wear that boy out. Usually it just ends up with me being worn out and needing a cup of coffee. He loves riding his gator. He calls it his gatorade. He can whip that thing all around the yard...usually he is going on a "trip". He always tells me he is going to Alabama, he will call me when he gets there, and picks me up a sweet tea before he leaves:) A man after my own heart.

He is oh so sweet too. He will just randomly come up to me and tell me he loves me and gives me a hug. The other night I was putting him to bed and after I tucked him in (and sang Jesus loves me 10 times) he grabbed my hand, kissed it, and told me he was thankful for me. I just melted into a puddle on the floor. He has such a sweet spirit and I love seeing how that comes out. As sweet as he is, he is equally trouble. He is going to grow up to be an engineer or a great defense attorney. He wrote the book on 3 year old manipulation:) Charlie and I have to be so careful how we explain things, b/c the next thing you know, he is using it against you! How in the world does he do that?!?!

He is getting to be so big and such a little man. Everyday is an adventure and I am learning how to embrace the challenges and cherish all the little moments.
